Services Overview

At Safe and Sound Counselling, my commitment is to provide empathetic and knowledgeable support to marginalized individuals who may feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or misunderstood. This includes both private clients and plan-managed or self-managed NDIS participants.

Individual Counselling for Those Who Feel Different:

  • Tailored support for individuals who feel out of place, marginalised, or different from those around them.
  • Focus on challenges related to cultural identity, discrimination, and societal pressures.
  • Support for individuals from all ethnicities, invisible illnesses, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA+ communities, and other marginalised groups.

Understanding Personal and Family Dynamics:

  • Individual counselling with a focus on navigating complex family dynamics and mixed feelings.
  • Providing a supportive space to explore and understand underlying causes of confusion.
  • Exploring family history and understanding its impact on your present life, including unrecognised childhood emotional neglect or other family-related challenges.

Neurodivergence Exploration & ADHD Assessments:

  • Supporting individuals who may be exploring neurodivergence as part of their identity.
  • Sensitivity to unique cultural contexts, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming practices.
  • Offering preliminary ADHD screenings/assessments as part of continuous therapeutic support. Please note these are preliminary at best, however, can be sent to psychiatrists with a letter with my observations/nuances and complexities that may be relevant. These are conducted as part of therapy, and without the $2500 price tag.  I am extremely comprehensive, and do not offer one-off assessments for this very reason. ADHD never comes alone, it always brings friends :)  so i want to ensure I have a clear understanding of everything that is going on, the co-occurring conditions, whether physical or mental health related. When one is neurodivergent the entire circuitry is affected and it helps to

be aware of the nuances, and get it right the first time around.

Treatment protocols differ  based on a number of variables and with such  sensitive nervous systems, it can be quite easy to cause harm. I would also hate for you to waste money  and have to go back to square one because something got missed the first time around.

Guidance on Formal Assessment Pathways:

  • Assistance in navigating the path to formal psychiatric assessments.
  • Focus on culturally informed and trauma-sensitive approaches.

Post-Diagnosis Support:

  • Tailored post-diagnosis support for marginalised individuals.
  • Focusing on emotional processing of past childhood traumas or neglect, disenfranchised grief, coping strategies, empowering you with knowledge, assisting with the medication related queries, communicating with your involved medical practitioners if need be,   advocacy, and self-advocacy.
  • Incorporating trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming strategies.

Case Management & Individualised Support:

  • Case management services that provide cohesive and culturally sensitive support.
  • Addressing the unique needs of each client, especially those from marginalised groups.
  • Emphasising trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming practice.

My Commitment:

My practice is centred around understanding the diverse contexts of my clients’ lives. I am dedicated to providing support that acknowledges and respects the unique identities and experiences of marginalised individuals. Whether it's dealing with cultural identity issues, navigating neurodivergence, understanding family dynamics and your whole in them or addressing trauma, I am here to offer a space where all aspects of your identity are understood, respected, and celebrated as part of your journey toward well-being.
